With self-discovery through Human Design, it is important to understand the interplay between the “how” and the “why.” and Ra Uru Hu’s wisdom provides us with the tools for this transformation.
He emphasized the importance of Strategy and Authority as the “how” to navigate life authentically. However, before we can fully embrace this guidance, we must address the underlying “why, where, what, and who” that shaped our perceptions and behaviors.
The Mind’s Role and the Not-Self:
The mind, usually conditioned by societal norms and personal experiences, often stands in the way of true transformation. It thrives on making decisions, but these decisions are often viewed through the lens of fear, conditioning, and external pressures, rather than our true self. Our open centers in the BodyGraph are what attract conditioning, pulling us away from our nature and this results in behaviors driven by a need to prove ourselves (Ego), avoid confrontation (Solar Plexus), or seek direction and love (G Center) from external sources.
Deconditioning is the process of peeling away these layers of conditioning and understanding the areas where we are most susceptible to external influences and begin to shift our awareness in order to settle the mind to be able to follow our Strategy and Authority.
For instance, if you have an open Solar Plexus Center, you might avoid confrontation and suppress your truth to keep peace, amplifying emotional waves from others. Recognizing this allows you to step back and not let this drive your decisions- to feel the thing and do it anyways type of processing.
By following our Strategy, whether it’s to respond, inform, wait for invitation, or reflect, we start living in alignment with our design. However, to truly embrace Strategy and Authority, the mind needs to understand why it cannot be in control. The mind’s fears, anxieties, and need for certainty must be acknowledged and addressed and this is through becoming aware. When we understand the “why” behind our fears and behaviors, the mind can relax and be coaxed to the back of the proverbial car. This understanding settles the mind, making space for us to follow our true inner guidance because there is no longer a fight for who is allowed to be driving the car.
Putting it all together. Human Design provides the blueprint (BodyGraph) and the tools (Strategy and Authority) to live authentically. By addressing the “why” (our conditioning and fears) and settling the mind, we create a foundation to follow the “how” (Strategy and Authority) effectively.
